Are you a qualified accountant who thrives in values-led environments? We’re recruiting on behalf of a respected independent advocacy charity seeking an experienced Accountant (CCAB qualified) to lead financial operations and play a pivotal role in organisational strategy.

You’ll be responsible for all aspects of finance, from day-to-day bookkeeping and payroll, to producing annual budgets, statutory accounts, and funding reports. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll help drive strategic decisions and ensure financial governance across the charity. You’ll also line-manage a Support Officer and contribute to IT and governance oversight.

What we’re looking for:

This is more than a technical finance role. The ideal candidate will be:

🔹 Analytical and Detail-Oriented – Confident with data, financial reports, and compliance, with a methodical approach to solving problems.

🔹 Strategic Thinker – Able to see the big picture and contribute meaningfully to organisational planning and leadership discussions.

🔹 Confident Communicator – Can explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders, trustees, and funders.

🔹 Collaborative Leader – Comfortable working as part of a senior team, supporting others, managing performance, and contributing to a positive, inclusive culture.

🔹 Ethical and Responsible – Committed to integrity, accountability, and delivering to high standards.

🔹 Proactive and Flexible – Able to adapt to changing priorities and contribute across business areas when needed.

Experience in the not-for-profit or public sector is highly desirable, particularly involving funding bids, contracts, or commissioner reporting. A working knowledge of payroll systems, year-end audit preparation, and charity governance processes would be a strong advantage.

What’s on offer:

  • A meaningful, mission-driven role with strategic influence
  • Part time hours working around your personal commitments – 22.5 hours per week
  • 25 days annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangement
  • A welcoming, inclusive, and supportive team culture
  • The chance to make a tangible difference to people’s lives

All posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check and references, including from your most recent employer.
