We’re looking for a motivated Accounts Assistant to join our growing team, where your contributions will directly support a wide range of clients, from sole traders and partnerships to limited companies.

Job Type: Full-time (part time will be considered)
Salary: £24,500 to £29,000 DOE

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in meaningful client work and gain exposure across all areas of account preparation, tax, and VAT. You’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial information, while also dealing directly with clients and HMRC.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing draft accounts from complete and incomplete records for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies using CCH software
  • Reconciling bank and cash control accounts
  • Analysing income and expenditure into appropriate headings
  • Preparing schedules of debtors, creditors, and other control accounts
  • Calculating depreciation, VAT, and preparing related control accounts
  • Assisting in the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns
  • Handling client queries and liaising with HMRC
  • Visiting client premises and occasionally supporting other office locations
  • Maintaining accurate personal time records and acting in line with our client charter

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from individuals who:

  • Have experience in preparing accounts and working with accounting software (CCH experience is a bonus)
  • Accountancy Practice experience is essential!
  • Are organised, detail-focused, and confident managing multiple priorities
  • Are comfortable working independently or as part of a team
  • Can communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues
  • Are committed to continuous learning and supporting the success of others
