An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly respected and fast-growing international legal organisation with a reputation for handling complex, high-value disputes across multiple jurisdictions.
With offices in the UK and overseas, this specialist law firm acts for major corporates and ultra-high-net-worth individuals on sophisticated litigation and arbitration matters worldwide. Its Finance and Accounts function is centrally based in Shrewsbury, where an opportunity now exists for an ambitious Finance Assistant to join the team.
This is an ideal role for someone with previous legal finance experience who is looking to further develop their career within a professional, collaborative and internationally focused environment.
The Role
Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider Accounts Team, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This is a varied and hands-on position offering exposure to both office and client account processes within a modern legal environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Processing office and client account receipts and payments
- Supporting client-to-office and office-to-client transfer processes
- Preparing supplier, employee and operational payment schedules
- Assisting with aged payable reconciliations and supplier account management
- Producing aged WIP reporting
- Managing petty cash transactions and reconciliations
- Supporting the wider finance function as the organisation continues to grow internationally
About You
The successful candidate will be organised, proactive and eager to contribute within a professional legal finance environment.
You will ideally have:
- A minimum of 1 year’s experience within a legal finance or accounts role
- An understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs)
- Knowledge of legal accounting processes including office and client accounts
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to manage workloads independently and prioritise effectively
- A discreet and professional approach when handling sensitive financial information
- A personable and team-oriented attitude
Experience using systems such as Xero, Clio or document management platforms would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
