A modern, boutique law firm is entering a period of strategic growth and is seeking an experienced Head of Employment to lead and further develop its Employment practice.
The Opportunity
The firm operates an innovative ABS and consultancy-led model, offering flexible working arrangements both nationally and internationally. With a hybrid structure combining consultancy and employed roles, the firm delivers a high-quality, client-focused service within a collaborative and supportive culture.
This is a senior leadership role working closely with the management team to shape the strategic direction and expansion of the Employment department.
The Role
You will take ownership of the Employment function, combining hands-on fee earning with strategic leadership, operational oversight and team development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the Employment department on a day-to-day basis
- Supervising, mentoring and developing fee earners
- Driving departmental financial performance, billing and cashflow
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory, risk and quality standards (including Lexcel)
- Managing and growing a strong personal caseload across Employment matters
- Identifying, developing and converting new Employment law opportunities
- Cross-referring work and collaborating across the wider firm
- Leading business development, profile-raising and marketing initiatives
About You
You will be a seasoned Employment solicitor with the credibility, ambition and leadership capability to head a growing department.
You will bring:
- 8+ years PQE in Employment law
- Proven experience leading, supervising or growing an Employment team
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the Employment legal market
- The ability to build and sustain a high-quality caseload independently
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
