Blue Orchid Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a rewarding and purpose-driven organisation seeking a proactive, compassionate and highly organised Employment Support Person to join their team on a full-time temporary ongoing basis, reviewed after 3 months with the potential of being made permanent.

This is a varied and meaningful role supporting a mental health clinician with day-to-day administration, accessibility support, diary management and technology assistance. No two days are the same, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others, staying organised and making a genuine difference.

Please note: Administration is one of the main components of this role. Alongside providing personal and accessibility support, you will be responsible for managing records, correspondence, appointments, referrals and a wide range of administrative tasks to ensure the service operates effectively.

You will play an important role in helping patients receive the highest level of support while ensuring the wider service runs smoothly and efficiently.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing diaries, appointments and schedules.
  • Updating patient records, questionnaires and treatment information on internal systems.
  • Preparing, formatting and proofreading patient notes and documents.
  • Completing referrals and liaising with external organisations.
  • Reading aloud information, notes and documents on a daily basis
  • Clinical notes and patient correspondence dictation
  • Providing sighted guidance and accessibility support.
  • Supporting with IT and online systems, including Microsoft Teams and virtual meetings.
  • Booking courses, annual leave and managing general administration.
  • Room bookings, filing, photocopying, emailing and posting patient correspondence.
  • Assisting before and after appointments including one to one interaction with face to face patients
  • Driving the client between sites across from Worcestershire & Herefordshire when required (travel expenses are claimable)
  • Supporting with general day-to-day tasks as needed.

Emotional and Mental Demands of the Role

This is a rewarding role but it also requires emotional maturity, resilience and the ability to maintain professional boundaries.

The post holder will be exposed to information relating to emotional, challenging or distressing circumstances. It is therefore important that you are comfortable working in an environment where you may encounter sensitive information and understand the importance of maintaining your own wellbeing.

You will be expected to:

  • Approach sensitive and potentially distressing situations with professionalism, empathy and compassion.
  • Maintain appropriate personal and emotional self-care to support your own wellbeing.
  • Recognise when support or guidance is needed and seek this appropriately from the Team Lead or Therapist.
  • Remain calm, organised and professional when dealing with changing priorities or challenging circumstances.
  • Manage the emotional demands of the role while maintaining a supportive and person-centred approach.

Mental Effort and Working Environment

The role requires frequent concentration and attention to detail. The working pattern can be unpredictable, with regular interruptions and changing priorities.

You will need to be able to:

  • Maintain focus while managing multiple tasks.
  • Adapt to interruptions and changing requirements throughout the day.
  • Prioritise competing administrative demands effectively.
  • Work accurately and efficiently in an environment where no two days are necessarily the same.
  • Use initiative while knowing when to seek guidance or clarification.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organised, adaptable and detail-focused.
  • Comfortable managing a significant administrative workload.
  • Confident using IT systems and Microsoft Office packages.
  • Has significant recent administrative/secretarial experience (usually demonstrated by a minimum of 3 years experience).
  • A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks.
  • Patient, warm, reliable and supportive.
  • Emotionally mature and able to maintain professional boundaries when working with sensitive or distressing information.
  • Self-aware and able to recognise the importance of personal wellbeing and seeking support when required.
  • Flexible with working hours and changing demands.
  • In possession of a full UK driving licence and willing to drive the client between sites across Worcestershire & Herefordshire

Desirable Experience

While not essential, the following would be beneficial:

  • Degree educated in any subject.
  • Experience supporting people with disabilities or visual impairments.
  • Experience within healthcare, mental health, NHS, social work or policing environments.
  • Experience in personal assistance or executive support.
  • An interest in assistive technology and accessibility tools such as JAWS or VoiceOver.

Working Hours and Location

You will ideally be based in Redditch or surrounding areas and be available to work up to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm Working from Home, 10am-6pm when in base (Redditch). You will be in base at least one day a week, up to 3 days a week, depending on patient need.

Some flexibility may be required depending on the needs of the service.

This is a hybrid role, with travel required between sites across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The client will also consider applicants who are happy to work in a job-share environment on a part-time basis.

Salary and Benefits

  • Commencing on £14.28 per hour. Reviewed after 3 months.
