Charity Support Officer
Full Time Permanent NewApply for this job
Looking for a role where you can make a real difference, work with people and never have the same day twice?
If you’re organised, approachable and enjoy being the person who gets things done, this could be a fantastic opportunity to build your career within the charity sector.
We’re looking for a Charity Support Officer to join a friendly, close-knit team supporting a well-established charity based in Oswestry.
This is a varied, hands-on role where your day could involve anything from welcoming and supporting volunteers, responding to enquiries and organising meetings, to helping deliver fundraising events and keeping the charity’s administration running smoothly.
You don’t need previous charity experience or a degree. We’re more interested in your attitude, organisational skills, ability to work with people and willingness to learn.
What will you be doing?
You’ll provide practical and administrative support across the charity, including:
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the charity office
- Responding to enquiries from volunteers, supporters and the public
- Helping with volunteer applications, inductions, records and communications
- Supporting fundraising events, campaigns and community activities
- Preparing documents, mailings, meeting materials and event resources
- Maintaining accurate databases and records
- Assisting with newsletters, social media and other communications
- Supporting the wider team wherever needed
There may occasionally be some evening or weekend event work.
What are we looking for?
You’ll ideally be someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and confident dealing with different people
- Organised and able to manage competing priorities
- A good communicator with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable using email, Word, spreadsheets and everyday IT
- Reliable, positive and practical
- Happy working as part of a small, busy team
- Comfortable using initiative while knowing when to ask for help
- Interested in charity, volunteering or community work
Previous experience in administration, customer service, reception, events, fundraising or volunteering would be useful, but it’s not essential. Experience gained through education, community involvement or volunteering will also be considered.
A role you can grow into
This could be a great opportunity for someone taking their first step into the charity sector, or someone with existing administration or customer-facing experience looking for a more meaningful role.
You’ll gain experience across volunteering, fundraising, events, administration, communications and community engagement, with opportunities to take on more responsibility as your skills and confidence develop.
This is a full-time permanent role offering 37.5 hours per week between Monday and Friday with a starting salary of £26,000 to £26,500.
