Due to continued growth, our client, a charity based in Somerset is currently seeking an Advocate to work in all Advocacy disciplines. The office is based in Taunton but you will be expected to assist service users in Frome and Yeovil, Somerset.

Advocates take action to help people say what they want, secure their rights, pursue their interests and obtain the services they need. They work in partnership with people and take their side, promoting social inclusion, equality and social justice.

Advocates work directly with clients both in institutional settings and the community.

Advocates must hold the Diploma in Independent Advocacy Qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or 4). People without this qualification will be expected to undertake the Diploma (provided by the company training scheme) within 12 months of appointment. Ongoing support and training is also provided.

This role would suit a graduate interested in developing a career in defending human rights or someone who has previous experience working in a mental healthcare or learning disability setting such as a mental health nurse, social worker, support worker or a legal professional.

You must demonstrate a genuine passion to help people and have their voices heard. Maintaining strong ethical standards and a sensitive approach to the clients.

This is a permanent role offering a 30 hours per week contract.

Offering a starting salary of £20,700 – £24,000 pa pro-rata.
